IT Technician - Full-time

Job Summary:
The City of Stephenville is seeking an IT Support Specialist. Under direct supervision from the IT manager, the IT Support Specialist assists with daily technology needs. This position will primarily support the Public Safety (Fire and Police) areas of the City. Performs technical analysis and maintenance of the City’s Information Services. Work involves a range of technologies including, but not limited to, desktop, server, and networking computing systems. This position works under the direct supervision of the IT Manager. The position does not supervise any positions.
Duties/Responsibilities:

Assist the IT manager with installing/troubleshooting server and network technologies.

Support Police and Fire software including the Motorola Spillman Flex CAD and RMS system.

Respond to and resolve daily technology issues.

Perform weekly maintenance on information technology systems.

Install and configure end-user technologies such as desktops and VOIP phones.
-
Provide daily technical support to end-users for varying technologies.

Provide general end-user technology training.

Education, Experience and Minimum Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications

Must be a United States Citizen
-
Must have a valid Texas driver’s license, and currently have and maintain a satisfactory driving record

Must have a High School Diploma or GED equivalent
-
Ability to communicate (read, write, and speak) effectively in the English language

Knowledge of Server/desktop hardware and software technologies

Knowledge of LAN and WAN technologies

Knowledge of Spillman Flex Computer Aided Dispatch and Records Management Systems.

Knowledge of backup technologies and procedures

Knowledge of remote access technologies

Knowledge of VOIP technologies

Knowledge of information technology security best practices

Knowledge of desktop software installation and troubleshooting

Certifications in related information technology fields

Previous experience managing information technology systems

Security Clearance, must be able to pass a CJIS background check
Physical Requirements:

Position requires the ability to stand, push, pull, squat, kneel, twist, reach, climb, crouch, and stoop while assisting others or working alone. This position also requires repetitive hand movement and fine coordination in using computer keyboards. Must be able to sit for extended periods during the day-to-day functions of the IT department.

Work is performed mostly in office settings, with extensive exposure to a computer screen. Hand- eye coordination is necessary to operate computers and various pieces of office equipment, install and repair computer components. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to use hands to finger, handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.

Work Environment:
The majority of work is performed in an office setting and may be subject to ordinary risks typically found in an office environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate.
