JOB SUMMARY:
This is a Full-Time, mid-level, professional staff reporting directly to the Director, Administrative Services. The candidate will be responsible for administering the city’s destination marketing and tourism initiatives. The incumbent is responsible for developing, managing, leading, evaluating, and continuously improving programs, with an understanding of the marketing and promotion function of the Convention and Visitors Bureau, which includes the promotion of locations throughout the city as a viable, competitive, & preferred option for local, national, & international meetings, events, and celebrations for business, and leisure.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED
This position works under the general guidance and direction of the Director, Administrative Services. Generally exercises no supervision.
TYPICAL DUTIES
Duties may include but are not limited to the following:

Manage and lead by establishing strategic direction, developing policies and establishing priorities, programs, systems, and standards.

Develop and implement destination management and marketing plans, written, verbal, and electronic.

Forge effective relationships with the stakeholders in the community.
-
Collects and maintains information on hotels, bed and breakfasts, and other short-term rentals subject to the hotel occupancy rate.

Develop and maintain effective relationships and strong partnerships with the public, City of Stephenville Departments, the hospitality industry, regional partners, state agencies, and others.

Coordinates and participates in organizing committee meetings, scope development and event plans.

Recruits new events and festivals that are compatible with the vision of the City of Stephenville to attract diverse audiences and showcase the destination’s unique offerings.

Ensure all department activities are aligned with the city’s strategic plan.

Organize and manage events that draw tourists to Stephenville with an emphasis on hotel nights sold.

Social Media Marketing, ad management, website content review and update.

Develop and maintain department budget within the confines approved by council.

Keep the Director for Administrative Services informed on issues related to tourism.

Perform related or other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Must be a United States Citizen.

Must hold a valid Texas driver’s license and maintain a satisfactory driving record;

Ability to communicate (read, write, and speak) effectively in the English language;

Two (2) years of experience in destination marketing, tourism development, or a related field.

Four (4) year degree from an accredited university is desired.

Working knowledge of the operation of personal computers, work processing software, peripheral office equipment such as printers, faxes, copiers, calculators and other modern office equipment.
