About us
The Stephenville Fire Department was founded in 1898 and provides Fire and EMS coverage out of two stations averaging over 2,200 calls for service annually. The department serves the City of Stephenville and Tarleton State University’s main campus. We also respond to assist in Erath County when requested.
There are nine firefighters per shift that staff one engine, a quint-aerial/ladder truck, and an ambulance. Our ambulances are basic life support (BLS) with mobile intensive care unit (MICU) capabilities. Firefighters work 48 hours on duty and 96 hours off duty.
Some services provided include:
- Advanced life support medical treatment
- Fire suppression
- Hazardous materials response
- Specialized rescue operations
The department also serves in several statewide response organizations including EMTF-2, TIFMAS, and IMT.
- The Emergency Medical Task Force 2 provides a statewide EMS response to all types of disasters.
- The Stephenville Fire Department TIFMAS team consists of 13 firefighters who have been deployed to areas throughout Texas and also two deployments to California to assist in wildland firefighting operations.
- The regional Incident Management Team coordinated by Texas A&M Forest Service allows us to send department members to assist in filling roles related to incident management at incidents throughout the state.
The department has seven fire trucks, two ambulances, and two prevention vehicles along with other support vehicles.
The department also participates in North Central Texas Trauma Regional Advisory Council (RAC). Dr. Marilyn Brister, Director of Harris Erath County Hospital Emergency Department serves as the Medical Director for the Stephenville Fire Department EMS.
