Cemetery Maintenance Worker Part-time
Reports To: Cemetery Supervisor
Department: Parks & Leisure Services
Salary: $9.00
JOB SUMMARY
The City of Stephenville is seeking a part-time Cemetery Maintenance Worker. This position will work up to 20 hours weekly under the direction of the Cemetery Supervisor. This position can work with the Parks Department for up to 12 months depending on performance and other parameters. Reports directly to the Cemetery Supervisor. Must follow directions from Cemetery Supervisor at all times.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

Assist in general maintenance work, including lawn mowing, edging, weeding, snow removal, cultivating, fertilizing, sod laying and hedge trimming, sweeping and raking of litter, and emptying of receptacles

Clean and maintain facilities including comfort stations

Drive vehicles and operate certain other motorized equipment

Perform safety checks on facilities and equipment

Participates in the maintenance, repair, and improvement of municipal parks, cemeteries, including general park areas, Splashville, ball fields, playgrounds, and related facilities

Setting up park facilities for special events and maintains premises during activity

Requisitions supplies; operates various types of automotive and related equipment
-
Ensures safety apparel is used at all times, and that safety rules and regulations or practices are observed in the performance of all duties

All other duties as assigned
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITY

Ability to work flexible hours, nights, and weekends

Ability to communicate (read, write and speak) effectively in the English language
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Must be authorized to work in the United States
-
Must have a High school diploma or equivalent
-
Must have a valid Texas driver’s license, and currently have and maintain a satisfactory driving record
-
Must pass a background investigation, drug test, and have a valid Texas driver's license with an acceptable driving record as defined by City policy.
WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

May move furniture, climb and perform other physical activities as required in the performance of assigned duties

May be subject to repetitive motion such as typing, data entry, and vision to monitor.

Effectively deal with personal danger, which may include exposure to:

Extremes in hot and cold temperatures associated with working outdoors

Hazards associated with working in trenches

Maintain physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities

Working conditions involve travel from site to site

Walking, standing, or sitting for extended periods

Lifting, carrying, and holding a variety of supplies and equipment, over 50 lbs

May have exposure to dust, noise, mechanical and dust/mites hazards
-
May work at heights or in deep trenches work in inclement weather conditions
