Light Equipment Operator/Grounds Maintenance- Parks - Full-Time

Hourly Salary: $17.46
JOB SUMMARY
The City of Stephenville is seeking a full-time position working under the direction of the Parks Superintendent.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

Operate a variety of mowers, blowers, sweepers, trimmers, edger, and weed eaters to maintain the parks and lawns

Inspect tractors and mowers for safe and proper operation

Maintain equipment as needed, replacing fuel, fluids, and oil
-
Mow, edge, trim and rake park lawns and foliage
-
Plant and cultivate various park vegetation
-
Remove weeds from landscape areas
-
Assist in applying chemicals to park vegetation including fertilizer and pesticides
-
Rake, sweep, blow and pick up clippings, paper, and trash from parks
-
Secure and partition off work area as necessary with traffic signs, cones, and barricade.

Flag and direct traffic around work areas as necessary

Maintain, clean, and repair park facilities

Identify and perform major repair needs to facilities and report findings to the supervisor

Install and repair irrigation systems

Remove debris from park grounds; clean parking lots and sidewalks; empty trash bins; clean and sanitize bathroom facilities; clean and maintain swimming pools

Perform general plumbing, carpentry, and masonry work; paint facilities and signs as needed; pour and finish concrete; participate in building and repairing various structures including fences, steps, bridges, and sidewalks

Remove graffiti from park facilities; maintain park road; replace lamps in outdoor lights; assist in decorating City streets and facilities for Christmas holidays

On call rotation which will include weekends and Holidays (on call pay)

Perform other duties as requested or required by the Park Superintendent
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITY

Understand and follow oral and written directions

Necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities relative to the position

Ability to work harmoniously and cooperatively with other employees and the public

Basic grounds maintenance procedures including mowing, edging, raking, and weeding
-
Methods, equipment, and materials used in grounds keeping work

Safe work procedures in the operation of hand and power tools
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Must be a U.S. Citizen
-
Must have a valid Texas driver’s license, and currently have and maintain a satisfactory driving record
-
Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent
-
Must be able to obtain a CDL within six (6) months within the date of employment
