Park Maintenance Worker - Part-time
Department: Parks Department
Reports To: Park Supervisor
Hourly Rate: $8.00 - $10.00
JOB SUMMARY:
The City of Stephenville is hiring for a part-time Park Maintenance role. This is a part-time position under the direction of the Parks Supervisor. This position can work with the Parks Department for up to 6 months depending on performance and other parameters.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
Duties may include but are not limited to the following:

Operate a variety of mowers, blowers, sweepers, trimmers, edger, and weed eaters to maintain the parks and lawns

Assist in general maintenance work, including lawn mowing, edging, weeding, snow removal, cultivating, fertilizing, sod laying and hedge trimming, sweeping and raking of litter, and emptying of receptacles.

Clean and maintain facilities including comfort stations.

Drive vehicles and operate certain other motorized equipment.

Perform safety checks on facilities and equipment.

May move furniture, climb and perform other physical activities as required in the performance of assigned duties.

Participates in the maintenance, repair, and improvement of municipal parks, cemeteries, including general park areas, Splashville, ball fields, playgrounds, and related facilities.

Setting up park facilities for special events and maintains premises during activity.

Requisitions supplies; operates various types of automotive and related equipment.

Ensure safety apparel is used at all times, and that safety rules and regulations or practices are observed in the performance of all duties.

QUALIFICATIONS:
-
Applicants must be 18 years of age or older.

Must be authorized to work in the United States
-
Must hold a valid Texas Driver’s License; have and maintain a satisfactory driving record.

Must have a High School Diploma, GED, or a higher degree

Ability to work flexible hours, nights, and weekends

Ability to communicate (read, write and speak) effectively in the English language
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The majority of the work is performed outside in all types of weather including extreme heat and cold weather conditions. While exposed to dampness, fumes, odors, dust, dirt, rain, heat, cold, chemicals, machinery with moving parts, and loud noises. The employee’s exposure to hot and/or cold, as well as wet and/or humid conditions are part of the everyday job function. The noise level in the work environment is loud when operating equipment and employees are encouraged to wear hearing protection.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
The physical demands described herein are representative of those met by an employee who successfully performs the essential functions of this job.
While performing the duties of the job, the employee is frequently required to walk, stand, sit, talk, and hear. The employee is occasionally required to use hands to handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is also required to use feet, legs, hands, and arms to operate the necessary equipment.
Must be able to perform moderate to heavy physical work with prolonged standing and walking for extended periods, walking over rough or uneven surfaces, stretching, bending, and pushing, stooping, climbing, crouching, crawling, moving, lifting, and carrying loads weighing between 50-95 pounds.
