Job Summary:
The City of Stephenville is seeking a part-time Senior Citizens Center Assistant. This position works under the general supervision of the Senior Citizen Center Manager. The Senior Citizens Center Assistant will perform a wide variety of tasks in the day-to-day operations of the facility such as assist in planning, organizing, marketing, implementing activities and programs. Part-time employees are regularly scheduled to work 20 hours or less per week. City-sponsored benefits are not available.
Duties/Responsibilities:

Assist in planning, organizing, marketing, implementing activities and programs.

Responsible for meal preparation, menu planning, and food storage.

Provide a welcoming and inviting atmosphere to all residents.

Enlist residents’ support and participation with program planning and activities.

Attends to the daily operation of the facility and assists with various senior programs, activities, and special events.

Assists with program registrations, including periods of computer processing with a custom registration system.

Assists with program and event set up, tear down, and implementation including working both inside and outside.

Provides excellent customer service by responding to customers' questions and needs.

Performs general maintenance and housekeeping duties in Senior Citizen’s Center and/or City of Stephenville facilities.

Ensures the safety of all spectators and participants in programs and facilities.

Regular and timely attendance is required for this position.

Interacts professionally and respectfully with the public, coworkers, and others in the course of daily work.

Required Skills/Abilities:

Ability to work 20 hours per week and occasional weekends.

Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with departmental staff and the general public.

Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions

General knowledge of recreational programs.

General knowledge of the social needs of senior citizens.
Education and Experience:

Must be authorized to work in the United States

Must have a High school diploma or equivalent

Must have a valid Texas driver’s license, and currently have and maintain a satisfactory driving record
Physical Requirements:
-
Occasionally works with cleaning supplies may position themselves to reach areas that need cleaning, including most areas within the facility.

Frequently moves office equipment, tables, chair, or like material/equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.

Frequently operates a computer and other office productivity equipment, such as a computer, copy machine, and computer printer.

Commonly communicates with seniors who have inquiries about their programs, activities. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
