CITY OF STEPHENVILLE HAS ADOPTED A TAX RATE THAT WILL RAISE MORE TAXES FOR MAINTENANCE AND OPERATIONS THAN LAST YEAR'S TAX RATE.
THE TAX RATE WILL EFFECTIVELY BE RAISED BY 4.78 PERCENT AND WILL RAISE TAXES FOR MAINTENANCE AND OPERATIONS ON A $100,000 HOME BY APPROXIMATELY $-3.40.
A maximum tax rate of $0.3829 per $100 valuation was proposed by the governing body of City of Stephenville at the Special City Council Meeting held on August 6, 2024 at 5:30 pm in the Council Chambers at City Hall located at 298 W. Washington, Stephenville, Texas.
A PUBLIC HEARING ON THE PROPOSED TAX RATE WAS HELD ON SEPTEMBER 17, 2024 AT 5:30 PM AT STEPHENVILLE CITY COUNCIL CHAMBERS, CITY HALL, 298 W. WASHINGTON, STEPHENVILLE TX. AFTER THE PUBLIC HEARING, THE STEPHENVILLE CITY COUNCIL ADOPTED THE TAX RATE OF $0.3829 PER $100 VALUATION FOR 2024.

The proposed maximum tax rate was not greater than the voter-approval tax rate. As a result, City of Stephenville was not required to hold an election at which voters could accept or reject the adopted tax rate. However, voters could express support for or opposition to the proposed tax rate by contacting the City of Stephenville at mharris@stephenvilletx.gov or by attending the public hearing mentioned above.
