Continuances
If you are unable to attend your scheduled court setting, you or your attorney would need to file a motion for continuance BEFORE the scheduled court date to see if the Judge will grant your request. If the motion is granted, a new court date would be scheduled for you and you would be notified by mail of the new setting. Defendants may be granted one (1) continuance without reason.
Requesting a Continuance
All motions for continuance shall be in writing and shall be filed with the court no later than 72 hours prior to court session.
Motion Shall Contain:
- the cause/citation number
- the name of the defendant
- the date and time of the setting to be continued
- the specific facts justifying the continuance
It is the defendant’s responsibility to determine whether the motion was granted or denied.
