Deferred Disposition
WHAT IS IT?
Deferred Disposition is a form of probation that, when completed successfully, may result in the dismissal of your case. The probation period may be up to 180 days. You must complete the term, including the payment of fees, and satisfy any requirements of the court. If you successfully complete the probation, there is not a final conviction and the complaint may not be used against you for any purpose.
YOU MAY BE ELIGIBLE FOR THIS OPTION IF:
- You are 25 years of age or older
- You were charged with a traffic-related or parking offense
- You plead Guilty or No Contest to the offense
- You do NOT hold a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)
- For speeding, you were speeding less than 25 miles per hour over the speed limit
- For speeding, your speed was not over 95 miles per hour
- The violation was not in a construction or maintenance zone when workers are present
- You are not currently on Deferred Disposition Probation
- You have not been on Deferred Disposition Probation within the last 12 months
NON TRAFFIC VIOLATIONS:
These violations may also be eligible for Deferred. Please contact the court for your options.
JUVENILE ?
If you are under 17 years old you must appear in person with a parent or guardian to request deferred disposition.
TO REQUEST:
IN PERSON: Bring your driver’s license, & proof of insurance (policy listing you as a driver)
BY EMAIL: If eligible, you may request this option by contacting the court at skibler@stephenvilletx.gov. You will be required to provide the following two (2) items to the Municipal court before the request form will be mailed or emailed to you.
1. A copy of your current insurance policy which lists you as a driver
2. Current driver’s license
