Driving Safety Course
If you are charged with a moving motor vehicle violation, you may request to take a Driving Safety Course (DSC) to keep the violation off your driving record. You must make your request on or before the appearance date indicated on your citation. DO NOT take a driving safety course without first obtaining permission from the Court.
You Must Meet ALL Eligibility Requirements:
- You are at least 17 years of age.
- You do not possess a Commercial Driver’s License.
- You have current liability insurance & a valid Texas Driver’s License.
- You are not charged with speeding more than 24 miles per hour over the speed limit and the violation did not occur in a construction zone.
- You have not taken a Driving Safety Course within the last 12 months.
- Have not committed one of the following violations:
- failure to give information at an accident scene;
- leaving the scene of an accident;
- fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer;
- passing a school bus; or
- a serious traffic violation.
TO REQUEST
IN PERSON: Bring your Texas driver’s license, & proof of insurance (policy listing you as a driver) . Be prepared to pay Court Costs & Administation Fee.
