Salary Range: $17.85 - $20.21 per hour
JOB SUMMARY
The City of Stephenville is seeking a full-time position working under the direction of the Utilities Superintendent.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
Typical Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

Ensure city vehicle has supplies and materials necessary to perform job assignments; operate, clean, service, maintain, and perform minor repair on assigned tools, machinery, equipment, and vehicles
-
Respond to service calls concerning emergencies or problems on a stand-by basis; work to reduce state of emergency and correct problems; perform overtime duties as necessary or required in order to maintain effective and efficient city services.

Operate a variety of equipment including pickups, dump trucks, jet rodding machines, brush-hogs, tractors with various attachments, lawn mowers, weed eaters, and other related maintenance equipment.

Secure and partition off work area as necessary with traffic signs, cones and barricades; flag and direct traffic around work area as necessary.

Work on-call duty and respond to emergency call back as required by supervisor.

Participate in repairing water and wastewater mains and services; break apart paved surfaces in preparation of line excavation; install shoring devices for excavations to prevent trench cave-ins; clamp off broken main or line, and mow and edge facilities.

Participate in testing water and wastewater lines for leaks; inspect valves for operability; locate water and wastewater lines and connections; lay and extend new water and wastewater lines in preparation for future use; remove obstructions from wastewater lines.

Assist in repairing and reading water meters and water and wastewater services; repair and install service taps; flush water lines.

Pull and install meters; replace meter boxes as necessary; install clean outs; raise and lower meters and manholes as necessary.

Clean streets and work area after repair work is completed
ABILITY TO:

Learn to operate, service, maintain, and perform minor repairs on assigned machinery, equipment, vehicles, and various hand tools

Mix and prepare chemicals including pesticides, fertilizers, and disinfectants used in completing work tasks.

Perform physical requirements of work.

Understand and communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.

Perform work in an undesirable or hazardous environment including manholes, excavated areas, and adjacent to traffic.

Maintain physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities, which may include the following:

climbing, kneeling, squatting, and stooping in the performance of routine job tasks

levels of extreme and constant noise

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
-
Must be a United States Citizen
-
Ability to communicate (read, write, and speak) effectively in the English language
-
Must be able to respond to emergency call back within 30 minutes or as needed by department
-
Must pass a background investigation and drug screen
-
Formal or informal education or training which ensures the ability to read and write at a level necessary for successful job performance. High School Diploma or GED required.

Possession of an appropriate, valid Texas CDL driver's license or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire.
-
Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate, valid water and/or wastewater license.
-
Must acquire class 2 wastewater collection and Class C water distribution license within 3 years of hire.
